THE GREAT APPLE SURPRISE and the power of TEN is the first book from author, Josephine Brooker.

Living in Melbourne, Josephine has a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, majoring in chemistry and mathematics, and a Diploma in Primary Education. After working as a laboratory chemist for several years, Josephine started her teaching career in numeracy intervention, before moving into classroom teaching.

During a futile search for a good picture story book to help teach the concept of place value Josephine decided that she should write her own. Not knowing where to start, she completed a short course in writing for children. Many different stories were drafted and discarded. Some still sitting on her memory drive waiting to be published.

Josephine currently works as a teacher and loves teaching children and helping them make sense of mathematics. In her spare time, she likes to bake and share her treats with her family.
